Iceland is a popular destination but we wanted tourists to travel beyond the famous "Golden Circle" and out into the other regions. There was just one problem: a lot of these areas are so unknown not even Google knows about them.
So we created Ask Gudmundur - "the world's first human search engine," to help people find them.
Then just like Google we expanded, creating real-life Gudmundur Hangouts and Gudmundur Mobile.
Thanks to the campaign, the number of tourists to these outer regions rose by 207,183, which contributed about
$39.6 million to the Icelandic economy, resulting in award recognition including:
Euro Effies Grand Prix, 7 Golds, 1 Silver
North American Effies | 2 Golds
Cannes | 3 Shortlists
